Arguably the greatest three point shooter in program history, Suzie Hammel finished her high school career with 1,419 points.

In her lone season at Lebanon High School (1999-2000), Hammel averaged 21.2 ppg, 6.1 rpg, and 5.3 apg. The Tigers finished the season 22-3 while capturing the Sectional and Regional title.

Suzie poured in a record setting 50 point performance against North Montgomery. In that same game, she set the school record hitting 11 three point field goals; a record that still stands today.

After graduation at LHS, Hammel took her talents to the Division I ranks at Valparaiso University. Suzie helped guide the Crusaders to three Mid-Con Conference regular season titles, two Mid-Con tournament crowns, two NCAA tournament appearances, and one WNIT berth.

During Hammel’s four year career at Valpo, she scored 1,060 points, 289 rebounds, 276 assists, and 164 steals. Suzie was selected to the Mid-Con All-Freshman team, shares the VU school record for 3-pointers made in a game (eight), and is second all-time in career three pointers made. Suzie Hammel graduated from Valpo in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Playing for her step mother (Tracey Hammel) and the daughter of the late Hall of Fame basketball coach, Jim Hammel, Suzie had an undeniable passion, dynamic skill set, and IQ on the hardwood.
